Tara Freeborn
As a doula, I accompany women in labor to help encourage a safe and satisfying birth experience. I act primarily as a massage therapist with the skills of a doula. I draw upon over ten years of massage experience to provide a soothing and supportive touch to the laboring mother. I attended Maui School of Therapeutic Massage, graduating in 2008. I am trained in a wide range of modalities including neuromuscular therapy, deep tissue, prenatal, swedish, and more. I use an individualized, integrative approach when working on body.
I received my doula's education from National Midwifery Institute (NMI), taking the Hearts and Hands Midwifery Intensives, summer 2013. I have also attended the advanced Hearts and Hands Midwifery Intensives in January 2014. I draw on my knowledge and experience to provide emotional support, physical support, comfort, and, as needed, communication with the hospital staff to make sure that you have the information you need to make informed decisions as they arise in labor. I can provide reassurance and perspective to you and your partner, make suggestions for labor progress, and help with relaxation, massage, positioning, and other techniques for comfort. I am an independent doula. As your doula, I am working for you, not your caregiver or the hospital. I believe that you are in charge of your own birth and that I am the invited guest. I am there to serve you to help you achieve the type of birth you have envisioned for yourself. |
